I was asleep, warm in bed. I slowly woke up to the sun shining in the window and the smell of steak cooking. I sat up, still half asleep but aware of my surroundings. I swung my legs over the side of the bed then slowly stood up. I glanced at my bedside clock. 9:47 Not bad.
I walked out of my room and into the living room.
“Hey, I told you I would get steak.” I looked over to the kitchen side of the room.
“Ha. I see, where did you get it?” I looked at his hands and saw dried blood. Damn it...he killed a cow.
“I have it don’t I? Where does it matter where I get it from?” He continued cooking.
“It matters because I don't want us getting in trouble for killing a farmers cow!” I sat down on the couch and turned around to face him. I always forget that he’s now half dragon...
There was a knock at the door. Enderlox looked up from his cooking, and I looked at him. I could tell he knew what I was thinking. Hide.
I walked over to the door and Enderlox was already in the other room. I opened the door, It was Sky.
“Hey Wolf!” Sky said, as his usual energetic self.
“Hey Sky,” I glanced back at a small noise that I guessed Enderlox made. Sky looked over my shoulder into the house.
“Is there something in there...?” he asked.
“No! Not a thing...its just me here...cooking lunch.” I’m a good liar, but I know he could see right through me on this one.
“Can I come in...?” he asked. I looked at him.
“Yea dude come on in, want something to drink?” I asked.
“Water please...” he said. I flipped the steaks on the inside grill and grabbed a bottle of water for Sky.
“Here yea go.” I handed the water bottle to him. There was a thump in the back room, my room actually. Sky must have heard it because he stood up.
“Ok, there is something back there, maybe its a squid!” He set his water bottle down on the table and started walking back to my room.
“Sky really! There isn’t anything back there!” I tried to get him to come back, but he kept walking. When he reached my room he slowly opened the door, expecting a squid to jump out and attack him. The door swung open slowly. Sky was looking right at Enderlox, with his mouth open in shock.
